Description |

In electrofusion profiled couplers of muff type (muffs, end caps, reducers, elbows, tees) the internal diameter is not much greater than the nominal diameter of the pipe, which makes possible inserting of the pipe to predefined depth inside the profiled coupler. The profiled coupler has two heating zones of resistive wire, which make up one electric circuit. Both heating zones are surrounded with cold areas, what reduces impact of the polyethylene used upon areas outside the welding zones. Electrofusion profiled couplers of saddle type (a saddle type tee with an assembling opening (boring arrangement), a saddle type branching units) are equipped with one heating zone surrounding the assembling opening.

Remarks|

In order to connect the coupler with the pipe, after having properly done all the necessary preparatory works, such as: right-angle pipe tip cutting, scraping, cleaning, alignment etc., it is necessary to apply a controlled portion of electric energy sufficient for melting the polyethylene. It is obtained by means of electric current of predefined voltage (39.5 V) flowing from the welding equipment through the rolls of resistive wire of suitable resistance by the time period recommended by the manufacturer. Every electrofusion profiled coupler is provided with a label containing welding parameters as well as bar code, which enables automatic reading of the welding time and thus reduces to minimum the operator (welder) fault risk. The cooling time is also the critical parameter in electrofusion welding, because of binding the surfaces of the pipe and the profiled coupler.
